Yesterday was the World’s International Day to End Impunity and promote Freedom Of Expression and it is very important for we activists to resound the major message of yesterday which is “Freedom of Expression and Information are fundamental human rights and must be respected by all Governments and Organization.”
The world has recently seen a lot of attack on freedom of information. A good example is the jailing of three Al Jazeera journalists in Egypt and even crackdowns in China, Bahrain, and most especially Eriteria and North Korea. I have repeatedly seen disheartening reports of human rights violations and attack on press freedom in Eriteria and North Korea.
For purpose of information and enlightenment, the list below shows the WORST 10 COUNTRIES IN FREEDOM OF EXPRESSION. The list is from Freedom House and is in no particular order.
Central African Republic
Somalia
Equatorial Guinea
Sudan
Eritrea
Syria
North Korea
Turkmenistan
Saudi Arabia
Uzbekistan
Let us all join the FREEDOM OF EXPRESSION CAMPAIGN and enlighten people about this being one of their basic human rights which they should let no one take away from them.
When we are robbed of information, we are robbed of power and are susceptible to manipulation.
When we are denied our freedom of expression, we are being oppressed and made to be irrelevant.
