I recently received an extremely sad news of thousands of children dying of hunger and malnutrition in South Sudan. South Sudan has been experiencing extreme violence since December last year which has displaced so many, forced them out of their homes and left them hungry and shelterless.
1.5 million South Sudanese have left their homes, fleeing the ethnic violence in the country. Most of them left with almost nothing. They now face starvation and are exposed to different deadly diseases like cholera, dysentery and malaria. UNICEF warns that tens of thousands of children are at risk of starvation and extreme malnourishment.
