I am of the strong opinion that Israel is overstepping the limits by approving tenders to establish a new settlement in the occupied West Bank. Israel recently published these tenders to build 283 new homes in a move that represents the largest land grab on the occupied Palestinian territory in three decades!
This action by Israel has generated a lot of international condemnation.
Even the United States, one of Israel’s closest allies has criticized this move and called for Israel to reverse these plans. I also like the fact that UN Secretary General, Ban Ki Moon spoke up this time around, saying that he was alarmed by this move. I am equally alarmed. This action by Israel is a clear violation of international law and it shows that Israel is not ready for lasting peace with the Palestinians. The Palestinians are fighting to have a recognized State on these lands, much of which Israel is occupying and are now furthering the occupation with plans to build more Israeli settlements. This plan is very wrong and U.S and UN should not only criticize this move but should take decisive steps to prevent them.
